Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has officially joined the cast of ‘Om’, the upcoming action drama starring Tamil actor Dhanush and Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The announcement was made by the film’s makers on Thursday, adding another celebrated name to one of the most-awaited films of the year.
The movie is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

Production house Wunderbar Films, owned by Dhanush, shared the news on social media. Welcoming the veteran actor to the project, the team wrote that Naseeruddin Shah is a “strong addition” to the world of ‘Om’ and confirmed that the film will arrive in cinemas across the globe on October 16, 2026.
The announcement has raised excitement among fans.
One interesting detail about the film is its title. ‘Om’ carries the tagline “Chapter 1,” suggesting that the makers may already be planning a sequel or a multi-part story.
While the filmmakers have not officially confirmed a follow-up, the title itself has sparked curiosity among movie lovers.
The title teaser released earlier offered the first glimpse into the film’s storyline.
The video showed a group of workers cutting red sanders, a valuable type of wood that is often smuggled illegally. Police officers are seen surrounding the woodcutters and holding them at gunpoint during an operation.
At that moment, Dhanush’s character makes a dramatic entry. He plays a woodcutter who steps in to rescue the trapped workers, hinting at an action-packed role filled with intense moments.
The teaser suggested that the film will revolve around the lives of people involved in red sanders cutting and the conflicts surrounding them.
During the launch of the title teaser, Wunderbar Films Head Sreyas revealed that ‘Om’ is one of the highest-budget films in Dhanush’s career.
He also said the movie is expected to bring back the “mass vintage Dhanush” that fans have been waiting to see for years, promising a powerful commercial entertainer.
Apart from Dhanush, Mammootty and the newly added Naseeruddin Shah, the film also stars Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela as the female leads.
The music has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar, while Ezhil Arasu handles cinematography. Kalaivanan R is the editor, and Kavya Sriram is in charge of costume design.
Earlier, Wunderbar Films had welcomed Mammootty with a special message, saying that whenever the Malayalam legend chooses a story, it becomes history. The production house had expressed its honour at having the superstar on board.
In another major development, R Take Studios recently announced that it has partnered with Wunderbar Films to jointly produce ‘Om’.
